What have we been doing for the last five years?

If we want to move the economy back on track, we have to think how we are going to get its various subcomponents (charted here) going first. For too long we've said it's OK. We're a service economy. Or FIRE jobs are better jobs. Or taking equity out of your house is the same as a job at the plant. We need programs that get (North) Americans making stuff again. (Not just blogposts.)
