We've been working with historical 13f data inside FRS over the last few days. Here's a chart of the additions/deletions to the Bridgewater's long equity position for financial stocks. It looks at if they were willing to overlook the panic of Summer '07 and keep buying which they did until Q108. They changed their collective minds quickly however. Not a good time for bargain hunting. You don't need to do indepth forensic analysis to know that their heavy buying in early 2008 was unfortunate. But no guts no glory. Right?
